CORE AERATION A method of breaking through dense thatch and hard soil, whereby a machine (a lawn aerator) with hollow tines mechanically removes plugs or "cores" of soil and thatch from a lawn, permitting free movement of water, fertilizer and air. This will help your lawn survive stress times of drought, and help grass seed to "plant itself" after seeding.
SEEDING with selective certified Fescue seed blends that are disease, insect and drought resistant. A Superseeder is also utilized for bare spots and patches.
GRUB CONTROL is accomplished through the use of a specialized insecticide that helps to prevent white Grub damage.
Have you ever turned up a bunch of plump, white, c-shaped creatures while digging in your yard? Those were Grubs, the larvae of Japanese beetles, June beetles, or chafers. You probably interrupted them mid-snack, as they have a voracious appetites after hatching and like nothing better than to feast on organic matter in the soil--including your lawn's roots. Unfortunately, Grubs and their notorious below-ground destruction may go unnoticed until later summer, when dead patches of grass suddenly appear in your lawn and begin to spread. Treating for Grubs after the fact is much more costly.
Nutsedge is difficult to control culturally because it produces numerous tubers that give rise to new plants. Pulling Nutsedge will increase the number of plants because dormant tubers are activated. However, it is possible to control small stands of Nutsedge by persistent pulling. Nutsedge, also known as nut grass, is a sedge commonly pound in lawns during the Summer. These weeds stand taller than the grass in your lawn and are notoriously hard to get rid of given their immersive root systems. Nutsedge is a perennial sedge, meaning it is a grass-like plant that will live for at least two years and will come back year after year. Nutsedge is easily identifiable from grass because it is taller than grass and lime green in color. Nutsedge grows much quicker than grass, even after being mowed.
FLEA AND TICK CONTROL is a multi-stage treatment plan designed to help prevent flea and tick infestations thereby substantially reducing the exposure to ticks that carry Lyme disease. Did you know that your lawn could be harboring ticks and fleas? It's not just the pets you have to worry about when it comes to these pests! Mice, deer and other wild animals may drop fleas and ticks off as they cross over your yard. Dogs and cats certainly bring them indoors but you may also carry them indoors on your shoes and clothing. We can also spray mulch and other shady areas fleas and ticks hang out.
LIME increases soil pH and can improve the health and quality of your lawn. A weakened lawn is much more susceptible to weed problems. While liming does not kill weeds, it does improve your lawn's health by increasing nutrient availability, which can help it maintain strength and fight weeds on it's own. Lawns need Lime when low soil pH starts inhibiting the availability nutrients,. Lime restores balance in overly acidic soil to bring pH back to optimal growing levels. Poor grass growth and lawn moss are signs that lawns may need Lime. Many gardeners prefer to Lime just before the first frost in Fall because the soil has all winter to absorb the Lime. It's good to Lime at least once a year because acidic rain will naturally lower the pH in the soil.
